Red5 Cloud is the managed half of Red5’s MoQ story: a fully managed, end-to-end, production-ready offering running at global scale on CacheFly’s CDN. It launched as a limited beta, with general commercial availability targeted for summer 2026.
If you want to run the server yourself and pair it with a CDN of your choosing, that is Red5 Pro, listed in the ecosystem directory. The split is deliberate — the two serve different readers, and the draft-support question that matters for Red5 Pro is not one you ask of a managed service.
Red5 describes the MOQ Beta as the first commercial stage of MoQ support in their infrastructure, offered across both deployment models, and positions Red5 Cloud as one of the first end-to-end production-ready MoQ solutions operating at global scale.
Ingest: bring what you already have
The pitch that matters to broadcasters is that adopting MoQ does not mean replacing cameras, encoders, or contribution links. Streams arrive over WebRTC, WHIP, SRT, RTMP, RTSP, or Zixi, and the Red5 Video Packager converts them into MoQ-compatible output for delivery. Native MoQ ingest is also supported, via the open-source MOQ5 library.
Red5 is working with Osprey Video, Videon, and Amino on hardware MoQ encoding, which is the part of the chain most likely to gate real broadcast adoption — software can be redeployed, encoders in a truck cannot.
What it inherits from Red5 Pro

- Partial reliability and independent streams, so no head-of-line blocking
- Connection migration for mobile device resilience
- Multi-view, clipping, and DVR-style scrubbing
- Live and non-real-time scenarios, including caching, time-shifted playback, and VOD
DRM and provenance
Through a partnership with EZDRM, Red5 supports DRM-protected MoQ workflows and C2PA content authenticity and provenance — the same live signing work demonstrated at NAB 2026. Worth reading our note there on how relay-side signing interacts with Secure Objects before designing around it.
Ecosystem position
Red5 was one of the eleven vendors in the NAB 2026 MoQ interoperability demonstration, and its demo was visible on both the Nomad Media and AWS booths. Red5 is a founding participant in the OpenMOQ Software Consortium alongside Cisco and others, and develops the Playa modular MoQ player template under it. Chris Allen represented Red5 on the NAB Streaming Summit OpenMOQ panel.
The CacheFly relationship is worth watching on its own — an integrated Red5 Cloud plus CacheFly delivery path was shown separately at NAB, and CacheFly is not otherwise a MoQ vendor we track yet.
