Everything you need to debug MoQT

moqtap Desktop gives you full visibility into MoQT sessions — from QUIC transport to application objects.

Connect to any relay

Native QUIC or WebTransport. Accept self-signed certs, custom CAs, or system trust. Support for multiple MoQT draft versions.

Inspect every message

Full control stream log with parsed fields, raw hex, timestamps, and direction. Filter by message type or direction.

Subscribe to tracks

Subscribe with any filter type — LatestObject, NextGroupStart, AbsoluteStart, or AbsoluteRange. See objects arrive in real-time.

Fetch historical data

Use FETCH to retrieve past objects by group and object ID. Inspect payloads inline.

View objects

Auto-detect content type and render text, JSON with syntax highlighting, or hex with ASCII sidebar.

QUIC transport stats

Real-time RTT, packet loss, congestion window, bytes sent and received, and stream counts from the QUIC layer.

Namespace discovery

Use SUBSCRIBE_NAMESPACE to discover available namespaces on a relay. Browse what's published before subscribing.

Trace export & import

Record full sessions as .moqtrace files. Share with colleagues, import for offline analysis, or attach to bug reports.

Frequently asked questions

What is moqtap Desktop?
moqtap Desktop is a free, cross-platform protocol debugger for Media over QUIC Transport (MoQT). It connects to any MoQT relay, decodes control messages, subscribes to tracks, fetches data, and displays objects — giving you full visibility into what's happening on the wire.
What platforms does moqtap Desktop support?
moqtap Desktop runs on macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel), Windows (MSI installer or portable), and Linux (AppImage, .deb, and .rpm). A CLI version is also available via cargo install.
Is moqtap Desktop free?
Yes. moqtap Desktop is free for individual debugging. All core features — connecting, inspecting, subscribing, fetching, viewing objects, QUIC stats, and trace export — are included at no cost.
What MoQT draft versions does moqtap support?
moqtap supports multiple IETF MoQT draft versions. You can select the draft version when connecting to a relay, making it useful for testing implementations across different protocol revisions.
What is the .moqtrace file format?
The .moqtrace format is a CBOR-encoded binary file that records complete MoQT sessions. It captures timestamps, message direction, parsed fields, raw bytes, and QUIC stats. Traces can be shared across teams and imported into moqtap for offline analysis.
How is moqtap Desktop different from moqtap Desktop Pro?
moqtap Desktop covers single-session debugging in client mode. Desktop Pro adds proxy mode (transparent relay between your app and the real relay), multi-session correlation, priority visualization, and advanced latency analytics — features designed for professional integration and QA work.
