§7.4

Request Stream Credit

draft-23 · View on IETF ↗

Each request opens a new bidirectional stream, and the peer limits how many can be opened (e.g., with QUIC MAX_STREAMS). A single FETCH can generate several upstream FETCHes, each needing its own stream (see Section 3.2.3). A relay that lacks stream credit to forward a request can fail it immediately with UNAVAILABLE, or wait for credit and fail it with TIMEOUT if none arrives. Either response can include a Retry Interval. Other requests from the same peer can still succeed, since they might be served from cache or by a different upstream.
